The Manila Metropolitan Development Authority (MMDA) will gradually close some U-turn spaces at EDSA to improve traffic flow along the highway’s designated bus lanes.

In an interview about Super Radio DZBB On Sunday, MMDA spokeswoman Celine Pialago said that some U-turn slots in the cities of Caloocan, Quezon, Makati and Pasay will be closed to vehicular traffic:

CITY OF CALOOCAN

  • General Tinio U-turn groove
  • Calle de Jesús-Calle 8 on the left
  • General Malvar U-turn

Pialago said affected motorists are advised to make a U-turn at the Monument circle (north to south) and Balintawak cloverleaf (south to north to go to their destination). Meanwhile, vehicles coming from NLEX can take Calle A. De Jesus towards Avenida A. Bonifacio and then turn right C3 or Sgt. De Vera going to their destination

QUEZON CITY

  • U-tun slot Kaingin Road in front of Nissan
  • Congressional LRT station U-turn slot in front of Panorama
  • Intersection-Bansalangin U-turn slot corrector
  • U-turn slot in front of the Quezon City Academy

CITY OF MAKATI

Pialago said the agency will soon release a list of alternate routes that motorists can use in place of the U-turn slots that are scheduled to close. The MMDA spokesperson also clarified that the closure will be gradual and could occur within two to three months.

“Maybe two months, three months before it is completely closed. That is not sudden and at the same time gradual. Because we depend on the end of our bus stops along EDSA, ”said Pialago.
