MANILA, Philippines – The body of retired Appeals Court judge Normandie Pizarro, who has been missing since Oct. 23, was found in Tarlac province on Oct. 30, the National Bureau of Investigation said Monday.
Distor said authorities found that the recovered body matched the DNA of the retired judge.
“Po confirmed by NBI Forensic. 99.99% DNA match po (NBI Forensic confirms. DNA match is 99.99 percent), Distor told reporters in a text message when asked for confirmation on Pizarro’s death.
Pizarro’s right hand was missing while the fingers of his left hand were cut off, Distor said.
Meanwhile, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra revealed that the NBI is targeting four persons of interest (PDI) behind Pizarro’s death.
“One of them [POIs] he is willing to divulge what he knows, ”Guevarra said in a text message to journalists.
Pizarro, who retired in 2019, wrote the ruling that acquitted Janet Lim Napoles in her case of serious illegal detention in May 2017. [ac]
