Missing Quirino police force found floating in river

CABARROGUIS, Quirino – The decomposing body of a police officer missing since December 29 was found floating along the Addalam River in Barangay Cabugao in Aglipay, Quirino on Saturday, police said.

Police Brig. General Crizaldo Nieves, director of the Cagayan Valley regional police, identified the body as Chief Sergeant Major Dexter Manicap Altre, who was assigned to the Maddela police station in the province.

“We are saddened (by the death) that one of our men has suffered and we will stop at nothing to discover the truth behind his death,” Nieves said.

Police said the body was seen by a villager who was collecting animal grass around 12:45 pm Cabugao village chief Frederick Galam later reported the incident to Aglipay police.

Altre’s body had been subjected to an autopsy to determine the cause of his death. But investigators said he was shot to death by gunshot wounds to the body.

The victim’s son, Denver, has positively identified her body.
