Lucca (Italy). MINI celebrates the superhero “The Flash” during Lucca Changes 2020, the new edition of the international fair dedicated to comics, games, animation and fantasy, which will take place from October 29 to November 1.S t with a rich cultural program only available online.

“The Flash” is a superhero who, like MINI, has a long history of success. A character who has been modernized and transformed, whose unmistakable features have been renewed but always faithful to his DNA.

The main feature of “The Flash” is super speed, faster than the speed of light, and this year we celebrate 80 years since its first appearance in the United States back in 1940 on the theme Flash Comics.

The DC superhero appears magically and quickly in the new MINI Electric: two true icons of style, design and, without a doubt, speed that come together in Lucca Changes to tell the story of a car that reflects many of the peculiarities of the DC Hero From the Comics – All-electric, noise-free, high-performance, and truly powerful.

The author, Carmine Di Giandomenico, is one of the best known and most active Italian cartoonists in the world. He is very familiar with the scarlet sprinter as he created more than 34 numbers. “The Flash” by Carmine di Giandomenico is a runner that explodes every page thanks to its dynamism while remaining faithful to the original character.

Starting with the costume, Carmine di Giandomenico has drawn the scarlet sprinter and has also made his own peculiarities, starting with speed. In 2016, he drew 56 comic tables in 48 hours (five hours earlier than expected). A unique achievement, typical of those who have superhero traits, such as those of the DC Comics multiverse that he knows so well, and that has earned him the nickname of “the world’s fastest cartoonist.”

“The Flash” is a superhero with the ability to move seven times faster than light, going beyond certain laws of physics. In the first interpretation of the character, “The Flash” is Jay Garrick’s alter ego, who accidentally inhales heavy water fumes and becomes the fastest man in the world. He wears a red, blue and yellow suit, boots on his feet and a winged helmet on his head, just like Mercury.

In the 1950s, it is Barry Allen who plays “The Flash”, a chemist struck by lightning while testing some chemicals. This incident turns him into a superhero in a total red suit wearing a mask instead of a helmet.

The work done in the MINI Electric is a reinterpretation of the historical cover of number 123 drawn by Carmine Infantino, a version that is a fusion between the classic version of “The Flash” (Jay Garrick), and its modern version (Barry Allen) . becoming very popular thanks to different movies and television series. In the background, as on the cover of the original book, appears the city where all the adventures of “The Flash” take place: Central City.

Carmine di Giandomenico has combined a very plastic and dynamic touch with prodigious speed – like “The Flash” – by completely designing the MINI Full Electric in just 10 hours and using a mixed technique.

MINI’s tribute to “The Flash” at Lucca Comics has been conceived in synergy with Panini Comics, which from 2020 publishes DC Multiverse comics in Italy. The partnership was announced during a digital press conference. It will also be shared on the social profiles of MINI, Panini Comics and Lucca Changes.
