A low pressure area (LPA) near Palawan and the end of a frontal system (Shear Line) will bring rain over Mimaropa, Calabarzon and five other areas on Sunday, PAGASA said in its early morning forecast.
The other affected areas are the Bicol region, Visayas, northern Mindanao, the Zamboanga peninsula, and Caraga.
These areas will have cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms due to the LPA and the end of the frontal system.
Flash floods or landslides can occur during times of moderate or heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon (Amihan) is affecting northern Luzon. It will bring cloudy skies with light rains over the Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region and Aurora.
The Ilocos region and the rest of central Luzon will have partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated light rains due to the monsoon.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated showers due to localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides can occur during severe thunderstorms.
At 3 am, the LPA was located 70 km east northeast of the city of Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
Coastal waters will be moderate to rough in the Luzon and western Visayas littorals, and mild to moderate in Mindanao and the rest of the Visayas.
