MANILA, Philippines – Mark Striegl is excited to represent Filipino mixed martial arts once he makes his UFC debut next week.

After being blocked because he contracted COVID-19, Striegl (18-2, 1 NC) will finally make his long-awaited UFC debut on Saturday, October 24 (Sunday, October 25 in Manila) against Said Nurmagomedov.

The 32-year-old fighter from Baguio City recently spoke about his upcoming fight.

“It’s a roller coaster … especially during these COVID times. Coming from Baguio City to Manila to Las Vegas, getting COVID when I thought it was the last thing to happen … It’s been an absolute adventure, but it’s all part of the trip and I’m super excited for him, “he said during a press conference.

“It is an absolute honor to represent the Philippines on the world stage here in the UFC. This is the MMA Super Bowl,” he added.

Striegl plans to bring out the best of his fighting skills for his Filipino fans to fight.

But if you want to make a mark, you will have to control your nerves from your debut fight.

“A jumble of all kinds of emotions for sure,” Striegl said of how he feels a week before his fight.

“But it’s about keeping it under control and keeping your breathing under control, going out and taking care of business,” he said.
