MANILA, Philippines – Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said Sunday that he has no plans to run for president in 2022.
“Wala po (None),” Domagoso said in an interview on CNN Philippines when asked if he had plans to run for president.
While grateful to be included in the Pulse Asia poll’s list of preferred bets for 2022, Domagoso said he intends to focus on addressing the pandemic in the city of Manila.
“One, I am grateful. Thank you very much sa inyo sa mga sumagot na ‘yon at thank you very much sa inyo dahil sinasama niyo ako, it is an honor, thank you very much. But let’s get back to reality. The reality is that there is a pandemic and we, the names that were included in that survey, should continue to focus on the pandemic, “said Domagoso.
In a recent poll by Pulse Asia, 12 percent of 2,400 respondents said they would vote for the mayor of Manila if he decided to run in the 2022 presidential race.
Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte – Carpio led the poll.
“I think the most important thing today is what we are going to do today, what are our plans today and what we are going to do in the next first quarter with the incoming vaccine. I think yun muna siguro ang mahalaga, (that’s the important thing) more than political growth or professional growth, ”said Domagoso.
“I prefer to focus on Manila and focus on the pandemic. If we can offer many things to ease the burden, the effects of this pandemic on the lives of all the families of the city of Manila, I will. Doon muna ang talagang nakafocus ako (that’s what I’m really focusing on) he added.
