MANILA, Philippines – Malacañang on Saturday expressed appreciation to the House of Representatives for passing the national budget bill for 2021 and also hoped that it would be transmitted to the Senate “as soon as possible.”
“We thank the House of Representatives for approving the third and final reading of the 2021 General Appropriations Bill (GAB) on time or within the special session called by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte,” said presidential spokesman Harry Roque in a statement.
Roque added that Duterte, “on many occasions”, articulated the importance of the timely approval of the proposed spending measure for next year.
It was on Friday when the members of the House approved the third and last reading of Bill No. 7727 or GAB.
This bill was approved on the fourth and last day of the special marathon session called by the President to avoid delays in the approval of the proposed spending measure.
With the approval of the budget proposal in the House of Representatives, Roque added that the bill will be transmitted to the Senate so that the members have “enough time to act on this legislative measure, which has been certified as urgent by the President. ”
