CITY OF BACOLOD – The provincial capital of Negros Occidental will remain in general community quarantine (GCQ), a more flexible form of pandemic lockdown, until the end of November, according to authorities.
The Office of the President, through Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, issued a memorandum on Friday (October 30) ordering GCQ for Bacolod City through November 30.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia previously appealed to the National Interagency Task Force (NIATF) to have Bacolod’s quarantine status relaxed to Modified GCQ (MGCQ) effective Sunday (November 1).
But the NIATF decided to keep GCQ in Bacolod to further reduce the number of COVID-19 cases in the city.
Leonardia heeded the order and issued a directive extending the GCQ until the end of November.
The curfew, he said, will remain from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Religious gatherings are allowed, but only up to 30 percent of church seating capacity. Only religious services or cults are allowed, such as mass.
Several companies are still unable to operate. Following an order from the Department of Commerce and Industry (DTI), these establishments will be closed during GCQ:
- language schools
- driving schools
- dance schools
- acting and singing schools
- cinemas
- libraries
- file establishments
- museums
- cultural centers
- tourist destinations such as water parks, beaches, and resorts
The sale of alcoholic beverages is restricted and permitted only from noon to 6 pm The consumption of these beverages is prohibited in public places and permitted only in private residences.
