Manila, Philippines – Makati City Police filed with the prosecutor’s office on Monday a provisional rape charge with homicide against 11 men for the death of a flight attendant on New Year’s Day.
The unconscious Christine Angélica Dacera, 23, from the city of General Santos, was found in an empty bathtub in a hotel room where she and some friends celebrated New Year’s Eve. She was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Makati City Police Chief Colonel Harold Depositar told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that a provisional rape with murder charge was filed on Monday against 11 people who were with Dacera, occupying two adjacent hotel rooms in the city of Makati. Makati, at the time of his death.
Depositar said the charge filed was provisional as the prosecutor’s office would be awaiting the autopsy findings and Dacera’s toxicology report that Makati City Police would file Tuesday.
He said only three of the 11 respondents in office have surfaced, while the others have become scarce.
“Only three of them were Dacera’s friends. The others were practically unknown to her, since only her three friends knew them, “Depositar said, adding that everyone at that New Year’s party with Dacera was included in the position.
Asked about the initial basis of the rape with a homicide charge, Depositar said: “The victim had lacerations and sperm on her genitals.” He added that he also had bruises, bruises and scratches on his arms and legs.
He said that initially Dacera’s death may have been found to be natural – of an aneurysm –but apparently there were contributing factors.
It was the Makati Medical Center that informed Makati City Police of Dacera’s death on New Year’s Day. Three friends and hotel staff had rushed her to the hospital after finding her unconscious in an empty bathtub in her hotel room.
