MANILA – Maharlika Manila scored his first victory in the Philippine Football League (PFL) after beating preseason favorite Stallion Laguna, 2-1, on Saturday at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona.

A second-half comeback was all that league newcomer Maharlika Manila needed to surprise Stallion Laguna, who was making his season debut.

Stallion Laguna was on his way to a beating when Ibrahim Ndour opened the attack with a goal from close range in the 29th minute off a pass from Toto Villareal.

José Montelibano, however, found a gap in Stallion Laguna’s baseline, prompting MJ Libre to feed him for the tie in the 53rd minute.

Substitute Jeremy Theuer won it for Maharlika Manila in the 75th minute, converting it into a pass from Charlie Beaton.

Maharlika Manila momentarily ties opening night winners United City and Kaya Iloilo at the top of the table with all three points.

United City will face Mendiola, while Kaya Iloilo will fight the Azkals development team in the late-night twinbill on Saturday night. (PNA)
