MANILA – The Pulmonary Center of the Philippines (LCP) announced on Saturday that it will not accept walk-ins COVID-19 patients as it has already reached its maximum capacity.
“We currently do not accept the walk-in and uncoordinated transfer of COVID-19 patients, as well as non-emergency medical and elective surgical patients who are not COVID patients,” the hospital said in a statement Saturday.
This takes effect immediately, said Dr. Norberto Francisco, the hospital’s public information officer.
According to the LCP, COVID-19 rooms are at 100 percent capacity and their emergency room is already at 200 percent.
However, teleconsultations for all illnesses, including coronavirus disease, are accepted through the facility’s telephone concierge and text message hotlines.
LCP is another in a growing list of hospitals in the capital region declaring full capacity, with public and private facilities saying they are at “critical” capacity.
At a press conference on Saturday, presidential spokesman Harry Roque said the government will add at least 110 additional beds for moderate to severe cases at the Quezon Institute next week.
More beds will be available next month, he said.
On Saturday, the government said it will extend the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila and surrounding provinces or “NCR Plus” for “at least” a week to curb the rise in COVID-19 infections.
