Luka Doncic ensured the Dallas Mavericks comfortably secured a 105-89 home win against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday. He dumped 42 points, the game-high, behind 16/28 field goals, including 6/11 from beyond the arc. The Slovenian sensation added nine assists, six rebounds, three steals and two blocks in his latest masterpiece. The German Maxi Kleber had 12 points and the Latvian Kristaps Porzingis a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds. On the losing side, Croatian Ivica Zubac finished with 14 points and Frenchman Nicolas Batum with three points.
The last triple-double produced by Nikola Jokic largely shaped the Denver Nuggets’ 129-104 victory against the Charlotte Hornets at home. The Serbian great with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists accumulated his 10th triple-double of the 2020-21 NBA regular season and 51st overall in his career. Slovenian Vlatko Cancar had two points and one assist, German Isaiah Hartenstein four rebounds and one assist in limited action, while Facundo Campazzo contributed six points, ten assists and four steals.
Giannis Antetokounmpo dominated overtime and led the Milwaukee Bucks to beat the Philadelphia 76ers, 109-105. The Greek Freak finished with 32 points to go along with 15 rebounds and five assists in a 43-minute effort. His brother, Thanasis, was off the board in four minutes. At the opposite end, Turkey’s Furkan Korkmaz drained three triples, including one forcing an extra five minutes, for a total of 11 points, and also posted two rebounds, two assists and a block.
Lithuanian Domantas Sabonis recorded a triple-double of 18 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists did not prevent the Indiana Pacers from losing at home to the Brooklyn Nets, 124-115. James Harden with a triple-double of 40 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds did the job for the visitors. France’s Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot contributed three rebounds, two steals and an assist to W. Georgian Goga Bitadze had one point, two rebounds and one assist in the losing effort.
Austrian Jakob Poeltl equaled his personal best with 20 points and had 16 rebounds, leading the San Antonio Spurs to a 106-99 return on the road victory over the Chicago Bulls. He made two points from 9/11 and added an assist in 34 minutes. Finn Lauri Markkanen scored ten points and seven rebounds, and Czech Tomas Satoransky finished with seven points and seven assists for the hosts to lose their 23-point lead.
The Sacramento Kings defeated the Washington Wizards, 121-119, via De’Aaron Fox’s game-winning jump shot with 0.7 seconds left. Serbian Nemanja Bjelica lasted 15 minutes from the bench but missed all five of his shots, getting six rebounds and a pair of assists. For the hosts, the Ukrainian Alex Len recorded a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds, while the Latvian Davis Bertans and the Israeli Deni Avdija each had six points as reserves.
Lithuanian Jonas Valanciunas threw seven points and 12 rebounds for the Memphis Grizzlies in an 89-85 win over the Miami Heat. Slovenian Goran Dragic was limited to 2/11 from the field and six points also contributed three rebounds and one assist for the visiting team.
Turkish Cedi Osman recorded ten points, three assists and two steals from the bench to help the Cleveland Cavaliers defeat the Boston Celtics, 117-110. German Daniel Theis didn’t score but had five assists and four assists as the Celtics’ starting center.
French upstart Sekou Doumbouya produced two points and five rebounds as the Detroit Pistons defeated the Toronto Raptors 116-112. Additionally, the Golden State Warriors prevailed, 108-94, forcing the Houston Rockets to their 18th consecutive loss, the franchise record.
