MANLA – An area of low pressure off Palawan has intensified in the Leon tropical depression Tuesday night, the state meteorological office said.
At 10 pm, León was 185 kilometers northwest of Coron, Palawan, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gusts of 55 kph, PAGASA said in its 11 pm bulletin.
It is moving west at 25 kph.
According to PAGASA, León is expected to move over the Western Philippine Sea, away from the land mass. He is likely to leave the Philippines Area of Responsibility on Thursday.
The number 1 tropical cyclonic wind signal is also found on the Calamian Islands in Palawan. Winds between 30 kph and 60 kph prevail or are expected within 36 hours.
From Tuesday to Wednesday, moderate to heavy rains are expected over Palawan and Occidental Mindoro, while light to moderate, with sometimes heavy rains, will be experienced in Visayas, the Bicol region, Calabarzon, central Luzon, the rest of Mimaropa , Caraga, North Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Metro Manila, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.
PAGASA also said that the moderate to rough sea, with waves of 1.2 meters to 3.1 meters, will prevail over the northern, eastern and southern coasts of Luzon, the western coasts of Occidental Mindoro and Palawan, and the coasts of Visayas. and Mindanao.
