Where a writer chooses to write takes on great importance and, over time, becomes part of their fandom. For example, the cafe JK Rowling wrote her bestseller Harry Potter books have become iconic. Similarly, author JRR Tolkien had written his famous books, Lord of the Rings Y The Hobbit at home, and now, according to a report in The guardn, efforts are being made to convert it into a museum. Actors like Ian McKellen and Martin Freeman, who rehearsed the roles of Gandalf and Bilbo Baggins, in Peter Jackson’s adaptations of Tolkien’s books, take part in this.
The place in question is 20 Northmoor Road in Oxford, where the author and his family stayed for 17 years. The same report reports that author Julia Golding has started a charity called Project Northmoor. This has started a crowdfunding campaign to raise £ 4.5 million ($ 6 million) to buy the house and then turn it into a literary center. “Unbelievably, considering its importance, there is no Tolkien center anywhere in the world. The vision is to turn Tolkien’s home into a literary center that will inspire new generations of writers, artists and filmmakers for many years to come, ”said actor John Rhys-Davies.
“Raising $ 6 million in three months is a great challenge. However, we just have to look at Frodo and Sam’s journey from Rivendell to Mount Doom, which took the same amount of time, and we’re inspired that we can do this too, ”Golding said, as further quoted. “Our vision is to make Tolkien’s house not a dry museum, but a homelike home of continuous creativity,” the project organizers quoted.
