MANILA – Justin Dizon apologized for an insensitive comment about his “Pinoy Big Brother” (PBB) roommate, Jie-Ann Armero, not bathing.
Justin was heavily criticized online for his clipped actions from the current season’s livestream, when he used a towel that Jie-Ann had wrapped around his head to wipe his hands. He also laughed when Jie-Ann said she didn’t care about his rudeness, and then joked, “Sabagay, marumi ka nga pala.”
In a video uploaded by the reality show this Friday, Justin is seen apologizing to Jie-Ann, who had explained that the reason he did not bathe daily was out of habit, having grown up where water supplies were scarce.
Admitting that he did not understand Jie-Ann’s background, Justin told her: “If you ever felt offended by those jokes, I want to apologize for them kasi ‘yun nga I forgot to realize it na iba tayo [ng environment na kinalakihan]. “
He added: “I want to apologize for telling you those jokes because, like, they are insensitive. Hindi ko naisip initially, your background and mine, how different they are. So yun nga, I’ll do my best to be more sensitive to how you feel ”
Justin was later seen sharing his findings with Big Brother himself, saying that he had a “very quick introspection” on his actions.
“It’s still a responsibility to accept your mistake and learn something about it, apologize and you know that developing a character is great or something,” he said.
