The exhibition tournament is rumored between the LCK and LPL teams. It will be an event that Riot Korea plans and celebrates. As the mid-season invitation (MSI) was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), there will be a long break until the next summer division begins. The LCK will play the first match on June 17. The unprecedented situation has brought demand for more games, and Riot Korea has responded that they are planning an event during the break.

First to come to the discussion was T1 CEO Joe Marsh. After T1 took the LCK Spring Split 2020 championship, he brought up the issue on his Twitter, implying the possibility of a friendly match between LCK and LPL. Fans showed immediate reactions in their tweet. While some worried that their teams would be criticized if they lost, most were interested in the positivity of a special event.

With the enthusiasm of the fans, Riot Korea began planning the event. They have already been asking the teams about their thoughts and most of the teams gave positive responses. Most of them were very eager for the idea and welcomed the event. The biggest possibility was what many fans saw, a match between LCK and LPL.

Riot Korea said: “Due to the cancellation of the MSI, the low season will be approximately two months. We are preparing a temporary competition. Not many things have been decided yet, but details and times will be announced later. We hope this event is a great gift for fans who are struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic. “
