Lawyer commits suicide after killing RTC judge inside Manila City Hall

MANILA, Philippines – A lawyer committed suicide after shooting and killing a judge at the Manila Regional Court of First Instance inside his office at Manila City Hall on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Police said the victim, Judge Ma of RTC 45 branch. Theresa Abadlla, 44, was allegedly shot by attorney Amador Rebato, 42, head of the judicial clerk of the same 45 Manila RTC branch, located on the fifth floor of the Manila City Hall.

The shooting reportedly occurred at 2:45 p.m., according to the police report.

In a 4 p.m. update, Police Major Jhun Ibay, chief of the Reaction Team of the Special Mayor of the Manila Police District, said Abadlla was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Manila Medical Center 30 minutes after the incident. of the shooting.

He told INQUIRER.net that the suspect allegedly died after shooting himself.

“He’s dead (suspect is dead) [..] using their own firearms. That was the beginning of my evaluation, which really killed me. (That’s our initial assessment, that he committed suicide), ”Ibay said in a telephone interview when asked about the suspect’s cause of death.

The shooting incident is still under investigation, police said.
