Ready or not, Christmas is officially upon us, and the Los Angeles Lakers hope to spread some holiday cheer to their loyal fans by beating the Dallas Mavericks on Friday.

The Lakers’ showdown with the Mavericks may not be as enticing as their opening day game against the Clippers was, but according to our latest fan poll, it’s still the most anticipated game on Christmas Day.

The poll results probably have something to do with how much fun it was to see LeBron James and Luka Doncic go head-to-head last season. Doncic, the third pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, has conquered the NBA for the past two years and now, at the age of 21, he is expected to receive serious consideration for the MVP award.

However, as Giannis Antetokounmpo learned last season, removing James from the throne is much more difficult than it sounds. Doncic is almost certainly next, but James, who is almost 15 years older than Doncic, now. Talk about longevity.

Beyond the James and Doncic showdown, there are people who are excited to see the Lakers and Mavericks come onto the court in two of the coolest uniforms in the NBA (it’s me, it’s people).

The Lakers and Mavericks will begin at 5 pm on ABC. Can you believe they gave the 7:30 pm slot to the Denver Nuggets and Clippers this year? What does a team have to do in prime time? Blow a 3-1 lead?

Bah, bullshit!
