MANILA, Philippines – June Mar Fajardo was finally able to play his rounds on the basketball floor suffering a terrible leg injury in February.
Performing shooting drills with assistant coach Boycie Zamar and Andrew Dulahan, Fajardo tried and took shots in different areas of the court with the efficiency of a well-oiled machine at the San Miguel practice site at the Acropolis Clubhouse.
Fajardo posted a video of more than an hour of his first practice on Friday on his AHOS Gaming YouTube channel and thanked fans for their prayers.
โAfter 8 long months, he is back in court. Slow but safe. Thanks for all your prayers and support, I really appreciate you! “wrote Fajardo, 6-foot-10, who began practicing Monday.
(After eight long months, I was able to go back to court. I am taking it slowly but surely. Thanks to all the prayers and support, I appreciate you all very much).
Fajardo has used his immense size and soft touch to intimidate the opposition in the paint, allowing him to become the only six-time MVP in the league, but the giant proved he is more than just a clumsy center.
In the final drill of the day, Fajardo ventured into the three-point arc and quickly made 49 of 105 attempts to hit a crazy 46.67 percent.
He started 5 of 5 before slowing down in his mid-30s of his shot attempts, but his abrupt cooldown was only a precursor to what happened next, as he fired seven shots in a row with the no attempt. 51.
However, Fajardo was not part of the San Miguel delegation within the PBA bubble for the Philippines Cup restart.
Coach Leo Austria said the team wanted Fajardo to focus on his recovery from injury.
