Jomary Torres suffered another first round loss when India’s Ritu Phogat took a TKO victory (3:56) on Friday to open ONE: Big Bang at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Except for the opening seconds of the fight in which the 24-year-old Zamboanga native hit combinations, it was all Phogat in this one.
“I feel incredible. I fight for my country and my family ”. Phogat said.
Just 39 seconds after the three-round atomweight fight, the 26-year-old Evolve MMA fighter was able to defeat the outstanding Catalan fighting system.
From there, Phogat shifted positions with ease, eventually gaining lateral control with 1:35 left.
“The Indian tigress” he then caught Torres’s right arm by the crucifix before landing 17 unanswered elbows calling for stoppage.
It was another devastating loss for Torres, who last experienced a victory on January 26, 2018 – a TKO victory over April Osenio.
Torres has lost his fifth fight in a row, falling to 4-4-1.
Phogat raised his record to a flawless 4-0 scoreboard.
