Apple has developed its own face mask for its employees and an unboxing YouTube channel has provided a first look. But Apple fans may be disappointed as this product may not be in the store alongside Air Pods and Apple Watches.

The mask was designed by the Engineering and Industrial Design teams, who typically spend their time designing iPhones and iPads.

Each box contains five individually sealed skins in classic Apple packaging printed with instructions. The mask is made up of three layers to filter incoming and outgoing particles, with adjustable strings to fit the age, plus the option to attach the strings to the back of the head for a more secure fit.

Each mask has a cover for the nose and chin, similar to a collapsible mask, and in the Unbox Therapy video George Hilsenteger, the man testing the mask, said that it is much more structured than a normal surgical face mask.

Hilsenteger also said: “It feels very safe. I definitely feel more sealed than a standard surgical mask.”

The mask can also be washed and reused up to five times and can be worn for eight hours at a time.

In addition to Apple’s mask, Apple is also modifying an FDA-approved clear surgical mask, ClearMask, that will allow people who are deaf or hard of hearing to read lips and better understand employees.

Apple developed the mask for use by its corporate and retail employees, so it is unlikely to be available for purchase by the general public.

So the rest of us may have to settle for less modern options. However, while many face masks are not as stylish as Apple’s new design, wearing a face cover is critical to slowing the spread of the coronavirus.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has asked Americans to wear a mask or cover, and CDC Director Dr. Robert R. Redfield said: ” We are not defenseless against COVID-19.

“Cloth face coverings are one of the most powerful weapons we have to slow and stop the spread of the virus, particularly when used universally within a community. All Americans have a responsibility to protect themselves, their families, and their communities. “
