- The deal will see the nationwide rollout of enterprise IoT coverage enabled by Nokia Global IoT Network Network (WING)
- WING’s connectivity management platform offers real-time visibility for IoT devices and services
Nokia announced today that it has been selected by the Philippines-based telecommunications and digital services company Smart, a subsidiary of PLDT, to launch IoT services across the country.
The partnership will use Nokia’s Worldwide IoT Network Grid (WING) managed service and offer a fully virtualized and future-proof end-to-end solution to meet the critical requirements of Smart’s business customers.
Nokia’s WING managed service helps operators capture IoT market share without having to invest in infrastructure. Thanks to the flexible business model to invest as it grows, operators can go to market quickly and scale IoT services profitably.
The partnership expects WING to provide Smart with its software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, which offers the tools necessary to eliminate the complexity associated with cost-effective connection and management of new devices. Collaboration with Nokia WING enables Smart to deliver advanced automation and real-time control capabilities across IoT. This will allow companies to run more automated, productive, sustainable and secure businesses with harmonized service level agreements, while providing real-time information. Beyond connectivity, WING Vertical-as-a-Service opens up opportunities for Smart to target its business customers with end-to-end IoT solutions.
Jovy Hernandez, President and CEO of ePLDT and Senior Vice President and Director of PLDT and Smart Enterprise Business Groups, said:
“The Nokia WING IoT Platform solution reinforces our ability to quickly resolve our customers’ IoT-related requirements and help them get to market faster and on a larger scale. Nokia technology helps us maintain PLDT’s leadership position and helps our customers maximize the potential of IoT services. “
Ankur Bhan, WING Commercial Director at Nokia, said:
“We are excited to be working with Smart on this deal that will provide superior customer experiences. IoT services are increasingly becoming a necessity as part of any operator’s digital transformation strategy. Nokia’s WING solution is at the forefront of enabling new IoT use cases through a range of connectivity options, including 5G. “
