Imelda Marcos has drawn attention online after the character Princess Margaret, played by Helena Bonham-Carter, mentioned the wife of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos in season 4 of “The Crown.”
In the third episode of the latest season of the hit series, Queen Elizabeth II’s younger sister tells the story of her meeting with Imelda Marcos, whom the real-life princess met before.

The former first lady was found guilty on seven counts of corruption in 2018. She violated RA 3019 or the Anti-Theft and Corrupt Practices Act, according to the Sandiganbayan Fifth Division.
Imelda Marcos was found to have transferred around $ 200 million to seven Swiss foundations during her tenure as a member of the now-defunct Batasang Pambansa, as the governor of Metro Manila, and as then Minister of Human Settlements.

While the scene mentioned in “The Crown” is only a fictional recreation, Princess Margaret officially visited the country in 1980 and met the then first lady in person. JB
