Iloilo City placed under MECQ from September 25 to October 9

MANILA, Philippines – The Interagency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) decided Thursday to place Iloilo City under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) for 15 days amid the COVID-19 crisis.

In a statement, presidential spokesman Harry Roque, who is also the official IATF spokesperson, said that the duration of the modified lockdown would be from September 25 to October 9.

According to data from the Health Department, there are 2,136 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the city, of which 1,467 or 68.7% have recovered.

Previously, the Iloilo city government imposed a total lockdown on 13 barangays after registering more than 600 new coronavirus cases in just one week. [ac]
