  • 1,635 new cases reported today brings our total to 291,789
  • Two Visayas provinces are in the top five: Iloilo and Cebu.
  • Of the 1,635 cases, 88 percent or 1,435 are recent (September 9-22, 2020)
  • There is no longer an arrears report for the month of March. NCR and the IVA Region continue to report delays. (I hope this becomes the norm and not the exception.)
  • The recovery rate is 79 percent with 450 recoveries
  • 50 deaths reported today raise the fatality rate to 1.73 percent
  • Most of the deaths are from NCR (20) and Western Visayas (10).
  • Most of the reported deaths are recent (38 of 50 occurred in September)
  • 130 test centers (100 RT-PCR and 30 GenExpert)
  • 3,221,770 individuals evaluated (2.92 percent of the population)

THE PHILIPPINES

  • NCR continued to lead in cases, with Regions IVA, III, VII and VI rounding out the top 5
  • Note that nearly a quarter of the cases in NCR, Region IVA, and VI were “delays” (disease onset date before September 7, 2020). The NCR and Region VAT data from March is still coming in.
  • Based on testability, the daily positivity rate for both NCR and the Philippines has decreased (with less than 1,000 positive tests). On the other hand, fewer tests were done yesterday compared to the previous days, and 20 percent of the testing facilities in the country did not submit reports to the Department of Health.
  • NCR will always be at the top of the heap. With a total of 1,543 cases yesterday, Quezon City, Manila and Taguig registered more than 100 cases, while the remaining 14 cities / municipalities registered double digits.
