Malacañang announced on Saturday that the Interagency Working Group for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) approved uniform travel protocols for local government units.
Under those protocols, travelers do not need to be tested for COVID-19 unless required by the LGU before traveling. Those tests will be only RT-PCR tests, Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said in a briefing.
Meanwhile, travelers will no longer be subject to quarantine unless they show symptoms at the destination upon arrival.
“Authorities will continue to strictly implement minimum public health standards, such as physical distancing, hand hygiene, etiquette when coughing and the use of masks and face shields in all settings,” said Roque.
“The clinical and exposure assessment will be strictly implemented at all ports of entry and exit, while the health assessment of passengers, supervised by doctors, will be mandatory when entering the port / terminal and leaving at the point of destination” he added.
Roque said the travel authority, which was previously issued by the COVID Shield Joint Task Force, as well as health certificates will no longer be required.
Those from national government agencies and their attached agencies that are Authorized Persons Outside of Residence (APOR), however, must present their identification, travel order and travel itinerary. They must also be able to pass the symptom screening test upon entering and exiting.
The IATF approved the uniform travel protocols on Friday, he added. The protocols were developed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government in coordination with the Union of Philippine Local Authorities, the League of Philippine Provinces, the League of Philippine Municipalities, and the League of Philippine Cities. —KG, GMA News
