Jon Jones could move up to heavyweight, but he still seems open to the Israel Adesanya fight that people have been talking about for a while. Israel Adesanya intends to continue defending the UFC Middleweight Championship and even called Jared Cannonier in for a fight if he can defeat Robert Whittaker at UFC 254.
Jon Jones has many options in front of him. Dana White stated that if he wanted to, the former light heavyweight champion could face Jan Blachowicz to reclaim his throne. Jon Jones is evidently focused on heavyweight, where he could possibly earn a title shot immediately after Francis Ngannou lands his mandatory championship match.
On Instagram, Jon Jones sent a forceful message to UFC middleweight king Israel Adesanya:
“But what? Have you been in the ring more than 100 times and still not ready!? You have a youth advantage and you like four times the fighting experience. The truth is that you are already my pussy, you love being undefeated and You’ve seen what happened to the others. It increases your courage to mention my name, you know that. You don’t want a real confrontation with me, I won’t just stand there and fight you. I’ve been preparing for the heavyweights, right now you literally I’d tear off one of the arms. “
Is Israel Adesanya ready for Jon Jones?
Daniel Cormier seems to think Israel Adesanya would do well at light heavyweight. However, he is in the perfect place at the moment and has been open about the fact that he only intends to fight the number one contender for now.
That means his next fight will likely be against Jared Cannonier or Robert Whittaker. If Israel Adesanya continues to build his legacy the way he is now, it will be difficult for the UFC not to fight Jon Jones.
It is easy to forget that Israel Adesanya, despite being 20-0 in MMA, has 80 kickboxing matches of which he won 75. It is an incredible feat and explains why he has become the best striker on the planet.
