Hundreds of people were heartbroken over the death of a nurse who “gave her life” to the NHS.

Janice Glassey became ill with coronavirus just three days before retiring, but sadly she died a month later.

The 66-year-old woman worked as a dedicated and beloved nurse for 14 years caring for people who receive end-of-life care.

Janice, mother of three, from Widnes, was engaged to get married and was known for her passion for her work.

Her death has left those who knew her absolutely devastated, while hundreds of people have flooded social media with tributes to her.

Sheila Sheerin said: “This woman has spent her life saving and caring for the sick, so this happens.

“Just before she should retire and spend her life relaxing and going on vacation.

“It is heartbreaking.”

Emma Gothard also said: “She has given her whole life and saved people and this is what happens.

“My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.”

Trevor Trow added: “A horrible news again. His whole life was given to save people and this happens.”

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. RIP, special lady.”

If you have been affected by any of the details mentioned in this story, there are people who can help you.

Most people cry when they lose something or someone important to them.

How the pain affects you depends on many things, including the type of loss you have suffered, your education, your beliefs or religion, your age, your relationships, and your physical and mental health.

Grieving is a completely normal process, but there are ways to get help if you need help.

Your GP is a good place to start. They can give you advice on other support services, refer you to a counselor, or prescribe medication if needed.

Or you can contact support organizations directly, such as Cruse Duel Care (0808 808 1677) Samaritans (116 123) or Love Jasmine.

“Continue to shine as bright as you were in life in all your friends and family.”

Janice, described by her bosses as “valued,” was admitted to Whiston Hospital earlier this month, where she spent about a week on a ventilator in intensive care.

The front-line worker, who tested positive for coronavirus, was transferred to Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital in Broadgreen, where she battled the virus for about fifteen days.

Sadly, on April 24, he lost his battle with the deadly virus.

Today, her heartbroken daughter Kerri told ECHO: “Mom was loved by everyone.

“It was a lot of fun and I had a lot to look forward to.”

“Mom was very dedicated to her work, she regularly covered people’s shifts.

“We are devastated because we were eager to share so many occasions together.”
