CEBU CITY, Philippines – Two Barangay Tanods in Cebu City have denied the allegations of publishing threats and offering a reward to anyone who can kill President Rodrigo Duterte.
The tanods, identified as Aldren Butalid Cabigon and Rengel Domínguez Fajardo de Barangay Ermita, were invited by the National Office of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI – 7) on Thursday, May 14 for questioning.
Cabigon and Fajardo told reporters in a press interview that an unknown netizen used their photos unscrupulously to create a fictitious Facebook account called Nogibac Aldren.
“We believe that someone used our photos to put us in low light. We own those photos, but we didn’t make that post with the captions threatening our President. The photos date from 2009, ”said Cabigon in Cebuano.
The images showed the two tanods posing with various firearms, with a caption reading “President Dutae, m ***********! There is a reward waiting for anyone who can kill you. I will kill you.” you and your bodyguard once I see you, damn … gago! in Cebuano
Attorney Arnel Pura, assistant to the deputy director of NBI – 7, said more investigations were being conducted on the matter.
“We are still verifying all the information because they (tanods) also have their valid data. Meanwhile, we are still evaluating all of this before we can initiate action against them,” Pura said.
The village peacekeepers were the last group of Zebuans summoned by the NBI – 7 for allegedly publishing threats against President Duterte and even hung a reward for those who could kill the president.
NBI – 7 also questioned a security guard from the city of Lapu-Lapu on Mactan Island for making the same post on his Facebook account.

Pura reminded the public that anyone caught posting threats against the President and those established with authority could be penalized.
“We have a particular law that penalizes this type of criminal act. It is inciting sedition. And if done over the Internet, there could be additional charges related to the cybercrime law, “he said.
Pura also said they were tracking people who might be behind the series of posts.
