MANILA, Philippines – The head of the Custody Unit of the Philippine National Police (PNP) was relieved of his post and charged with sexually assaulting the former Deputy Mayor of Ozamiz City Nova Princess Parojinog while in detention at Camp Crame.
“That is basic, because there was an incident, a complaint from Nova Parojinog,” PNP spokesman Colonel Ysmael Yu told INQUIRER.net on Friday about the decision to fire and send Lt. Col. Jigger Noceda to assign him to. a police detention unit.
Parojinog was arrested after a pre-dawn raid on July 30, 2017, where his father, former mayor of Ozamiz Reynaldo Parojinog, and six other people were killed in San Roque Lawis in the city of Ozamiz.
Since then, Nova Princess has been detained at the Philippine National Police Custody Center, facing charges of possession of firearms and illegal drugs.
A report from Rappler said that Noceda sexually assaulted Parojinog twice inside his office.
On June 9, Noceda allegedly kissed the former vice mayor, while on September 7, the police officer allegedly touched her private parts, the report added.
Yu said a criminal complaint against Noceda was filed on Wednesday by the Women and Children Protection Center (WCPC) with the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
The spokesman for the police force added that the WCPC “is already aware of the situation and has already taken action.”
Noceda is now in the custody of the Headquarters Support Service (PNP-HSS) while awaiting the development of the case, Yu said.
“If there is an administrative sanction there… they will be under administration. They remain members of the PNP so under the disciplinary authority of the PNP there with their direct superior. Like the HSS, he is now detained, ”he said when asked where Noceda was staying.
(When there is an administrative sanction, they will be in administration. He is still a member of the PNP so under the disciplinary authority of the PNP, his direct superior. Like the HSS, he is taking him into custody)
President Rodrigo Duterte had tagged the Parojinog in the illegal drug trafficking operations in Mindanao.
