Hayley Williams has taken to social media to reaffirm Paramore’s stance against homophobia, suggesting that the band’s intolerance of anti-LGBTQ views was one of the reasons the former members left the group.
How Stereogum Williams’ comments reportedly came after a recent comment allegedly made by former member Josh Farro, in which homosexuality is called “a perversion,” circulated on social media.

Josh and his brother Zac Farro left the band in 2010 and Zac rejoined in 2017. Paramore’s current line-up is Williams, Zac Farro and Taylor York.
On October 28, Williams sent out tweets reaffirming the band’s support for the LGBTQ + community. Although he mentions the Paramore lineup change, he did not name Farro in his tweets.
“There is a reason there are only 3 people left in Paramore. Surprise, haters, it’s not my cause, ”Williams wrote.
“Paramore does not condone religiously or politically dogmatic beliefs that make our LGBTQ + friends, fans, and family members feel abandoned and hopeless.
“If that doesn’t add up to you, well, feel free to go where all the previous Paramore members have gone, which is literally anywhere but Paramore.”
“To the LGBTQ + family of Paramore,” he continued, specifically addressing Brian J O’Connor, creative director of his Good Dye Young hair color company, “you are full of love and you are loved.
