STANLEY PRINGLE was named Most Valuable Player of the Philippine Cup bubble, Scottie Thompson lifted the Sportsmanship trophy and Prince Caperal was Most Improved Player – individual awards Barangay Geneva San Miguel Head Coach Tim Cone credits dedication and hard work from all of your districts.
“I am really proud and happy for our guys. Everyone who won the awards put in an effort day by day and the awards are well deserved, “Cone told BusinessMirror on Monday.
The Philippine Basketball Association gave special individual awards, in lieu of the Leo Prieto Awards, to outstanding players for the short 45th season that was played inside the Clark bubble late last year.
The other recipient was Norman Black’s son, Aaron (Meralco), who emerged as the best rookie.
“Usually in the PBA, individual awards are usually a function of the team’s success. So we’re looking for more of both at the next conference, ”added Cone, who hopes to bring back 7-footer Greg Slaughter.
“Certainly Greg [Slaughter] He is a player with a great impact on our team. He changes the way we can play and gives us a level of versatility that most other teams can’t match, ”Cone said.
“His presence in the middle enhances his teammates around him. I really want him to return ”, he added.
Slaughter skipped last season and went to America to polish his game.
Cone said that with his success in the Philippine Cup at Clark, he couldn’t wait to defend the crown in the 46th season, which tentatively begins in April.
Pringle scored 1,640 points to defeat Phoenix Super LPG point guard Matthew Wright (1,578), while Thompson won 2,360 to beat Terrafirma’s CJ Pérez (2,069). The 6ft 7in (2,447) Caperal was a big winner over Phoenix’s Justin Chua.
King Japeth Aguilar gin also made its way to the Elite Five with Pringle, Wright, Calvin Abueva from Phoenix and JP Erram from TNT Tropang Giga.
