Gunman breaks into hospital and kills EJK survivor under treatment: health worker

MANILA, Philippines – An unidentified gunman stormed a hospital in Angono, Rizal, on Wednesday morning and shot dead a man who was being treated for gunshot wounds to the head he received in an earlier attack.

A hospital worker tweeted about the incident, but then made them private.

According to the worker, the patient would have survived an apparent extrajudicial execution attempt.

“I was treating an EJK victim this morning. Barangay tanod and the emergency response team found him three times in the face, he pretended to be dead, and they took him to our hospital, ”said the worker.

“From a palpatory 40 BP, I was able to revive it. It was a miracle that he was alive. Fully aware, consistent. We were able to extract information from you. He knew who shot him. I write it down. But then the documents he wrote in suddenly disappeared, “he added.

“We were able to identify him through the tattoos on his body,” he continued. “FB helped us find his address. We were trying to locate his relatives, but hours after stabilizing the patient, an unidentified gunman suddenly entered our emergency room. “

“So the gunman went into the emergency room and shot the patient once,” the woman said. “Then he pointed the gun at us, and while all the healthcare workers were cowering, they shot the patient a second time, left the emergency room, and got on his motorcycle. So.”

Many netizens who support the Duterte administration’s drug war expressed doubts as to whether the incident actually happened. Some of them questioned whether it was possible to revive a person with a gunshot to the face three times, much less be consistent.

“Where did this happen? Is this fiction? said a Twitter user who replied on the thread.

“Shot three times in the face tapos na-revive mo … Fully conscious and coherent?” another asked.

But the head of the Angono Municipal Police Station, Major Richard Corpuz, confirmed the attack on the hospital, saying it occurred at 11:40 am.

The patient, whom he identified as Vincent Adia, was rescued by authorities after being shot in the head.

The Rizal Provincial Police Office said it was investigating the incident.

However, Corpuz said that Adia could not speak. All he could do was write his own name.

According to the police officer, his office was seeking permission to obtain a copy of the hospital’s CCTV footage, which could aid in the investigation.

Corpuz also revealed that Adia, who hails from the city of Antipolo, was recently released from prison a year ago. However, it is unclear if he was included on a drug suspect watch list.

The health worker stuck to her story and told administration supporters online that she had no reason to lie.

While President Rodrigo Duterte was hailed for addressing the country’s drug problem, many human rights defenders were wary of the alleged disregard for the rights of drug suspects.

Duterte was criticized by foreign communities, and some countries lobbied for more control of the drug war.

However, the president repeatedly assured his critics that there was no EJK in the Philippines, saying the killings were the result of drug gangs fighting for territorial control.
