NLEX coach Yeng Guiao praised the PBA’s staging of the bubble, while hoping the league can return to the normal conduct of its season.
Guiao praised the PBA’s move to move forward with the season amid the COVID-19 pandemic that provides entertainment for basketball fans while maintaining a safe environment within the Smart Clark Giga City bubble.
At the same time, Guiao hopes that the 2021 season will no longer be played in a bubble, but that, of course, will depend on the health situation in the country and when a vaccine will be available.
“I am hopeful that we can do a normal tournament and a normal setup with the crowd,” Guiao said. “The crowd also misses anything else to say. We really miss those fans. “
“Everything will still depend on the situation with the virus and the pandemic. There is news that there is already a vaccine, but I don’t know if that vaccine will be able to arrive early next year. Perhaps, if it is available, it would provide it to us. “
Guiao and the Road Warriors are poised to break out of the bubble shortly after the end of their season that saw their team capture five wins in 11 games. The NLEX coach, who was one of the advocates for the bubble at Clark, is happy with the way the bubble where players stay at the Quest Hotel was organized.

“I am very happy to have been able to preserve the bubble. We had a few minor issues but everyone was safe. Everyone is negative. For me, that’s really the main thing about the bubble. We were able to run our tournament and at the same time keep everyone safe and at the same time give our audience a treat.
“All the things we set out to do, we were able to accomplish. For me, this bubble is really successful. Personally, I would like to thank CDC (Clark Development Corporation), BCDA (Bases Conversion Development Authority) and PBA. We were able to organize a safe, entertaining and well organized tournament. It has been done in my place, in my home district and in my home province. That makes me proud. That is another consolation that I am taking away from this experience, “said Guiao, former deputy governor and congressman of Pampanga.
While the global health crisis is still far from resolved, Guiao said the PBA bubble in Clark will also serve as a learning experience for the league if it is forced to maintain such a setup for the 2021 season.
Guiao said the PBA will be able to use Clark’s model to improve the behavior of another bubble, if that happens again.
“The bubble itself is already proof that if we ever need to re-enter another bubble, we will be able to manage it better. We can probably even improve our practices that we have done in this bubble. Parang investment natin ‘a in the future. In case we need to do it, we know we can do it and we can do it better. If you don’t have to, it’s even better, that means you’ll go with the regular tournament. “

“But at least now, we have options, we have options, it doesn’t seem like we used to crawl. But now, we know there is a choice, there is a choice two, there is a choice three, so the PBA under the leadership of the board of governors and Commissioner Willie can evaluate and make better decisions next time if we want to. we will improve.
“Regular kung na tayo, mayo bovine, mayo audience na tayo, maybe 50 percent of the place, kaya nating papasukin, so that becomes an additional option for the PBA. But right now, by doing this well, we were able to solidify our position in terms of managing the league and making it safe for everyone, ”he added.
