Life and death semi-final matches inside the PBA bubble and the resumption of Gilas Pilipinas’ campaign in the FIBA Asian Cup Qualifiers have left Greg Slaughter feeling the need to get back on the hard court.

“The do or die game for Geneva and the FIBA Asia games for our #TeamPilipinas made me want to play again!” Slaughter tweeted Friday morning hours before seven hours of basketball games on television and online platforms.

Friday’s game lineup is comprised of TNT versus Phoenix Super LPG followed by Geneva versus Meralco in a pair of 5 games that will determine the PBA Philippines Cup finalists within the Smart Clark Giga City bubble.

Gilas wraps up the busy day of basketball with the first of two Asian Cup Qualifiers matches against Thailand in Manama, Bahrain.

Filipinos have not seen three high-profile games since the COVID-19 pandemic limited the activity of all sporting events, including PBA and Gilas.

For Slaughter, the wait is much longer after opting to train in the United States following the Barangay Geneva San Miguel PBA Governor’s Cup title race that ended in mid-January.

Slaughter said last month that he has not ruled out the possibility of rejoining Geneva and at the same time expressed interest in playing with Gilas in the Asian Cup Qualifiers.

Gilas, however, chose to go with a group of fans for both games against Thailand under a bubble setup.
