Greg Slaughter congratulated Barangay Ginebra San Miguel on their final PBA championship that followed Wednesday’s victory over TNT in Game 5 of the Philippine Cup Finals.

Slaughter took to Twitter to offer a brief message to the only team he’s played for since his pro debut in 2013 before deciding to take a hiatus earlier this year.

“Congratulations guys! Way to get it! (trophy emoji) #NSD (Never Say Die), ”Slaughter tweeted.

The 7-footer left for the United States after his contract with Geneva expired at the end of his run for the 2019 Governor’s Cup title.

He spent the first few months of the pandemic being coached by former NBA scout Gary Boyson in Daytona Beach, Florida and even signed with a Serbian-based sports agency that represents Denver star Nikola Jokic.

Despite his absence, Slaughter continued to support Guinevere in taking the only title available this season that was held under a bubble setup due to the pandemic.

Coach Tim Cone, who has had talks with Slaughter since his decision, hopes the former Rookie of the Year and Best Conference Player can return for the PBA’s 46th season in 2021.
