MANILA, Philippines – Grab Philippines said Thursday they will help post bail for the release of Mary Florence Norial, one of its drivers who is now in jail in Taguig after allegedly assaulting a police officer.
“We have received reports that one of our driver-partners was arrested after allegedly disrespecting a police officer. The safety and well-being of our driver-partners remains a top priority for us at Grab. We are currently coordinating with the family of our driver-partner, and will provide bail assistance for his immediate release, ”the statement from the Grab Philippines media team reads.
“We will update everyone as soon as relevant information on this investigation is available,” he added.
On Tuesday October 6, Norial was detained at the Ususan Police Station, Taguig, after she was accused of assaulting Police Captain Ronald Saquilayan near a cafeteria in Taguig.
In a Facebook post Tuesday, Norial said he had an argument with Saquilayan, who was blocking his way at the entrance. She said the policeman hit her with a car door.
However, according to the police report, it was Norial who continually screamed and knocked on the door of Saquilayan’s car.
Mirza Miguel Shahzad, Norial’s partner, said that they are still awaiting the resolution of the Taguig Prosecutor’s Office on the complaints of alarm and scandal, direct assault and disobedience to a person in authority that were filed by the police.
