Preparations for the government-planned mass immunization campaign for Covid-19 are now officially underway with a new issue from the Interagency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).
In its Resolution No. 82, 2020 series, the IATF created the Organizational Structure for the Management of the Covid-19 Immunization Program under the National Working Group against Covid-19 (NTF).
The Department of Health (DOH) will create task subgroups within the NTF.
“The creation of a task force is to ensure the successful and efficient deployment of Covid-19 vaccines in the target population,” said presidential spokesman Harry Roque.
The DOH previously said that Covid-19 vaccines are expected to be commercially available in April 2021.
The government is interested in vaccinating the majority of Filipinos against Covid-19 so that business operations in the country can resume normally.
Also in Resolution 82, the IATF allowed the University of the Philippines School of Medicine to conduct a face-to-face clinical internship program at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH).
During their meeting Thursday, Roque said that the IATF also decided to reaffirm its earlier decision to place Metro Manila, Batangas, Iloilo City, Bacolod City, Tacloban City, Iligan City and Lanao del Sur under general community quarantine (GCQ) despite the appeal of certain premises. government units.
“All other areas are under modified general community quarantine,” Roque said.
The new IATF community quarantine classification will be in effect from November 1 to November 30.
