The Games and Entertainment Board (GAB) held that Calvin Abueva must undergo a seminar on standards of conduct and ethics of a professional athlete before obtaining his professional gaming license.
GAB President Abraham Mitra said the 32-year-old forward was made clear that he needs to attend the session to obtain a new license once the PBA decides to lift an indefinite suspension that has been extended for 15 months.
Abueva went to the GAB office Tuesday afternoon, accompanied by Phoenix coach Topex Robinson, to apply for a new license, just hours after a meeting with PBA commissioner Willie Marcial.

Mitra was not present when he attended the Senate budget hearings, delegating the task to GAB Commissioner Eduard Trinidad.
“He (Trinidad) did not commit anything and said that his request (for Abueva) will be discussed and decided by the board at its next meeting,” said the GAB chief.
Mitra said that the seminar could be done through Zoom.
Time is also of the essence, as Abueva needs to process his license if the league will finally allow him to dress for the Fuel Masters. She was allowed to join the team inside the bubble and play scrimmages.

“If you don’t have (a license), even if you just sit on the bench it is not allowed, especially to play,” Mitra said.
“A license is a privilege, not a right and can be revoked at any time for unprofessional or unsportsmanlike behavior,” added the head of the GAB.
The league will allow late entries, especially those rehabbing from injuries, until Oct. 10 to reach the bubble. Those who arrive after the cut will no longer be entertained.
