SMART Clark Giga City. – In a duel of brave players at the end of the game, Matthew Wright beat Paul Lee.

Wright capped his 32-point performance with a triple, lifting Phoenix Super LPG over Magnolia Ang Pambansa, 89-88, on Saturday and in the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals at the AUF Gym powered by Smart 5G technology in Angeles City.

Lee tried to respond, but his jump back was a bit wide and Calvin Abueva threw the defensive rebound that sealed the victory the second-seeded Fuel Masters needed to ditch the seventh-ranked Hotshots by the short route.

As a result, Phoenix now faces top-ranked TNT in the best-of-five semifinals starting Wednesday, a season that coach Topex Robinson described as nothing less than otherworldly.

“It’s so magical for us,” said Robinson, appointed to take over on an interim basis last September before being formally elevated to his post earlier this month.
