Former Cebu City Mayor Killed – The Manila Times

A former mayoral candidate from the southern Cebu city of San Fernando was shot dead by unidentified gunmen while his niece was injured in Cebu City on New Year’s Day, according to police reports.

Ruben Feliciano, 67, a businessman, succumbed to gunshot wounds while Kim Feliciano, 30, suffered three gunshot wounds and was admitted to a Cebu city hospital.

At the crime scene in Barangay Apas, police recovered five rounds from an unknown firearm, seven live bullets from an unknown firearm, three misshapen bullets, and a Glock pistol with 11 rounds.

Cpt. Renz Talosig, head of Cebu City Police Station 4, said the Glock pistol was recovered from Ruben’s possession.

Talosig told The Manila Times that police are investigating business transactions as the possible motive for the incident.

Investigations revealed that the murdered businessman was involved in the construction of the national port in San Fernando.

She ran against Mayor Lakambini Reluya of the city of San Fernando, who won the mayoralty in the 2019 elections. Feliciano was a suspected suspect in the assassination attempt on Reluya who killed her husband, Ricardo.

Police reports said the Felicianos were walking down Fulton Street toward their apartment around 6:30 pm when about five armed men arrived and shot them.

Witnesses told police the gunmen fled in a white van with no license plate.
