Although the mock sweepstakes of respected media in the United States see that Kai Sotto will not be drafted to the majors in 2021, a veteran of Team USA believes that the 7-foot-2 Filipino is a safe choice next year.

Having worked closely with the 18-year-old, Reggie Hearn is confident that not only will he be drafted, but that he will also have a huge impact on the NBA.

“I think all three will be redacted,The 29-year NBA veteran G League Ignite said of Sotto, Jalen Green and Jonathan Kuminga. “It will happen especially if we have some games under its belt, competition, among the work that we have been doing here.

“I think they will be ready to make an impact on any team that wants to have them.”

Hearn was not drafted during the 2013 NBA Draft. After that, he played for G League teams Idaho and Reno before being drafted by Detroit in 2018.

Though relegated to a couple of California-based G League teams, the 6-foot-5 shooting guard was instrumental in Team USA’s campaign in the World Cup Qualifiers, averaging 12.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.

His service to the national team led to him winning the 2018 U.S. Basketball Athlete of the Year award.

Since then, he has worked with Ignite as one of their veteran mentors.

One of the things he likes about Sotto is that he is trainable, which is a huge advantage in the NBA.

“What I love about him is that they are very humble, they are willing to listen to us from vets,“He said effusively.

On top of that, he thinks Sotto’s offense is already polished.

“Kai has all the skills necessary to be a great offensive man in this league. He’s also very, very smart. “
