Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 27) – Typhoon Quinta (international name: Molave) has moved out of Philippine territory, but a new low-pressure area will enter the country on Wednesday or Thursday that could turn into a tropical depression.
In its 11 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that Quinta left the Philippines Area of Responsibility at 8 a.m., and may still reach its maximum intensity when traversing the Western Philippine Sea .
It was last sighted 775 kilometers west of the city of Calapan in Oriental Mindoro or 255 km north of Pagasa Island with maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 185 kilometers per hour.
The tropical cyclone No. 1 warning sign remains hoisted over the Kalayaan Islands, which means that winds of 30 to 60 km / h or intermittent rains can persist for 36 hours.
The typhoon may still bring moderate to heavy rains over Western Visayas, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, including the Calamian, Cuyo and Kalayaan Islands, Aurora, Isabela and Cagayan.
Light to moderate rains, sometimes heavy, will be experienced in the Zamboanga peninsula, Bangsamoro, northern Mindanao, Caraga and the rest of Luzon and Visayas.
PAGASA warned of landslides and floods that can occur due to heavy or prolonged rains.
Strong to gale conditions due to northeast winds will also be felt in the Kalayaan, Batanes, and northern Cagayan islands, including Babuyán, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte islands.
Typhoon Quinta previously made landfall in the following areas: Pola in Oriental Mindoro, Torrijos in Marinduque, the city of San Andrés in the province of Quezón, Malinao and San Miguel Island in the city of Tabaco, Albay.
PAGASA said that the LPA detected near Philippine territory could turn into a tropical depression in the next 48 hours, PAGASA said.
Once it intensifies, the weather system will be called “Rolly”, the 18th tropical cyclone by 2020.
