Fewer than 900 new cases of COVID-19 were reported; more than 8k patients recover

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines documented 891 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Sunday, bringing the total infection count to 477,807.

In its case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) reported 20,292 active cases of the virus, representing a significant drop from the 27,721 active cases reported on January 2.

Meanwhile, 8,316 more people have recovered from the disease. This brought the total sum of COVID-19 survivors to 448,258.

The death toll from COVID-19 reached 9,257, with an additional four patients dying from severe respiratory illness.
