Ferrari presents a unique Omologata with V12 engine

MANILA: On September 25, the exceptional Ferrari Omologata was launched in Fiorano Modenese, Italy.

A vivid orchestration of the characteristics that characterize Ferrari in reference to GT racing, the Omologata joins the brand’s line of different unique body models.

Before the design of this 10th Unique front-engined V12, designers found it challenging to meet the safety limitations for road homologation without any interference with the drivability and functionality of a Ferrari.

However, with the Omologata’s Rosso Magma finish and exquisite racing livery, the new Ferrari proves to be an obvious descendant of the brand’s magnificent GT tradition, which spans seven decades in automotive history.

Thus, the Omologata is said to be a vehicle that feels perfectly comfortable on the road as its V12 engine reverberates on the track.

Since the sketches were first submitted, the Ferrari Omologata initiative took more than two years to complete. The design began with photos that included a wide range of inspirations, from racing history to science fiction, including connections to modern architecture.

The concept was to establish a futuristic design with the reinterpretation of unique elements to provide the possibility of an iconic shape that would have a great impact on car fans.

The designers extracted all potential areas of independence from the fundamental package of the Ferrari 812 Superfast, retaining only the headlights and the windshield as existing components of the body.

The intention was to take advantage of the dimensions of the powerful mid-front design and provide a more elegant look, characterized by elongated highlights and soft volumes. Crisp graphics with carefully refined surface breaks dictated by aerodynamic functionality elevated the Omologata’s design.

The designers also studied the layout and posture of the car from all directions, concentrating on the decreasing frontal volume of the flattened oval grille.

The rounded section above the front wheel arches, which is highlighted by an opposing stripe that surrounds the hood, seems to naturally show through from the grille.

At the rear of the door, the sidewall becomes a strong rear muscle that is carefully integrated upward into the three-quarter panel.

All volume is purposely rendered by the removal of the taillight, while three horizontal crosscuts in the fastback volume subtly diminish the rear mass.

A striking spoiler mounts the tail and contributes not only to downforce, but also to a more athletic and gritty stance to the Omologata.

Inside the car, a number of trim details indicate a strong connection to the rich racing history of the Ferrari brand.

The Omologata’s electric blue seats are finished in a stylish blend of Aunde Jeans leather and fabric with four-point racing harnesses, and are well emphasized against a full black interior.

With no display or taillights, the ambience in the cabin is significant, strongly suggesting the bygone era.

The metallic components on the steering wheel and dash are polished with the effect of cracked paint, which can be linked to the iconic GT racers of the 1950s and 1960s along with the Ferrari engine cam caps.

A hammered paint effect is frequently used on vehicles such as the Ferrari 250 GTO and 250 LM and is seen in details such as the interior door handles as well as the Ferrari F1 bridge.

The handcrafted aluminum bodywork of the Ferrari Omologata is peppered with almost subtle features, which means the car enthusiast needs to acknowledge the many sources of inspiration that have influenced its conception.
