MANILA – The Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday warned the public against purchasing and consuming various unregistered foods and food supplements.
In a notice dated August 26 and posted on their website on September 16, the following products were not registered and do not have the corresponding Product Registration Certificates:
- RENO BRAND Liver Cream
- MIRACLE WHITE food supplement in advanced whitening capsules
- TURCUMIN 100% natural and standardized turmeric curcumin
- DESA Spanish Style Bangus in Corn Oil
- SAUCE AND SAMANTHA SAUCE Spanish Sardines Pasta Sauce
“Since these unregistered food products and food supplements have not gone through the FDA evaluation process, the agency cannot guarantee their quality and safety,” he said.
Under the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009, the manufacture, import, export, sale, offer for sale, distribution, transfer, non-consumer use, promotion, advertising or sponsorship of health products is prohibited without proper authorization. , the FDA said.
The FDA warned establishments not to distribute, advertise or sell such “infringing” food products until the appropriate certificates are issued, adding that failure to comply could result in “regulatory penalties.”
Local government units and the Customs Office are mandated to ensure such products are not sold and to restrict the entry of unregistered products, the agency said.
