Fans rejoice at Abueva’s return

Calvin Abueva woke up to a blessed Sunday morning with good news waiting for him in Clark, Pampanga.

The PBA has officially lifted Abueva’s indefinite suspension, unleashing “La Bestia” for the first time since he received the sanction 16 months ago.

Many fans were delighted with the long-awaited return of the Phoenix star, and took to social media their excitement and feelings following the announcement.

Phoenix swingman Matthew Wright also welcomed the reinstatement of his teammate by posting a photo of Abueva while answering questions from the media.

“Bout f ***** time,” Wright wrote in all caps, accompanied by three open padlock emojis.

Charles Tiu and Allan Gregorio were among the basketball personalities who also greeted Abueva on his return.

Gregorio, assistant manager for the NLEX Road Warriors, recalled how Abueva helped the team win three consecutive PBA D-League championships.

“Forgotten by many, Calvin will always be the @NLEXexpressways family, so we wish him well. hope [h]We found the right path, ”Gregorio tweeted.

Former PBA commissioner Noli Eala also joined in the “big news” celebration for the spirited Phoenix forward.

Happy for Calvin, his team and his fans. This is great for the league. It’s time we all put this to bed and move on, ”Eala tweeted.

Abueva will join his team starting Monday when Phoenix Super LPG takes on NLEX in the PBA Philippine Cup at the University of Angeles Foundation Sports and Cultural Center.
