San Miguel star June Mar Fajardo showed the progress he has made from the right leg injury he suffered in February in a training video dated Thursday afternoon.

The movie, posted on his AHOS games YouTube channel, showed Fajardo shooting hoops with assistant coach Boycie Zamar and staff member Andrew Bulahan of the team’s practice gym at Acropolis in Quezon City.

“After 8 long months I have returned to court. Slowly but surely. Thank you for all your prayers and support, I really appreciate you,” Fajardo wrote.

Team manager Gee Abanilla said Fajardo received the go-ahead from orthopedic surgeon Dr. Raúl Canlas, the same man who operated on his right tibia last February, to do light workouts on the court. .

“His recovery is scheduled,” he said. “She is doing her usual rehab program plus aquatic training, and recently she received the start signal from Dr. Canlas to start shooting with light.”

But Abanilla declined to give a firm schedule, saying the team will continue to rely on professional advice before proceeding.

“We don’t want to rush into anything and we depend on the expert advice of your doctor. We will take one step at a time and be happy for every little victory you get in your rehabilitation,” he said.

The coach also expressed optimism about Fajardo’s progress eight months after sustaining the injury.

“He’s not rushing into anything, but I’m happy to note that I feel a lot of positivity in his prospect of becoming whole and fit again. I really hope everything is okay in God’s perfect timing,” Abanilla said.

Fajardo and forward Matt Ganuelas-Rosser were the only players not on Beermen’s roster for the 2020 season restart in a bubble in Clark, Pampanga.

The big man played all 61 games for San Miguel last season and averaged 18.9 points, 13.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.5 blocks in 33.2 minutes per game.
