Face-to-face classes will resume at selected schools in low-COVID-19 areas in January.

President Rodrigo Duterte and the Cabinet on Monday night approved the Department of Education’s proposal to conduct a test of face-to-face classes in selected schools in low-risk COVID areas.

The pilot implementation of the limited face-to-face classes will take place throughout January 2021, Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said in a statement.

Participation in the classes in person will be voluntary and students will need parental permission before joining, Roque said.

DepEd will work with the National COVID Task Force for the pilot project, he said.

Health protocols must be strictly observed, he added.

“The pilot will be carried out under strict health and safety measures,” he said. INQ
